From year to year, the summer season becomes a serious test for farmers - owners of orchards. The irrigation becomes a compulsory operation, without which the harvest is extremely uncertain.
The drip irrigation is an easy, convenient and effective method of maintaining the water balance of the fruit trees.
The irrigation during the summer season is mandatory as the fruiting highly depends on it. Summer watering is important not only for the proper development of trees in the current season, but also in the next year, as it affects the formation of fruit buds. It is difficult to say how much and what kind of watering to carry out, mainly because of the differences in climatic conditions of the different regions in the country. A common practice and a basic rule is to water the trees before and after harvesting. The watering before harvesting is carried out about 15 days earlier, the purpose is to have the fruits growing bigger. While watering after harvesting is recommended for species that are particularly sensitive to drought, as well as in areas of less rainfall.
The drip irrigation can be applied both when growing seedlings for fruit trees, regardless of the variety and species. This is the most cost-effective, but also the most efficient way to carry out the watering, because with drip irrigation the temperature regime around the roots and under the crown of the trees is best regulated. At the same time, it allows to also apply vegetative feeding of permanent crops with soluble fertilizers.
